WELCOME The Chilliwack Amateur Radio Club, is a group of amateur radio enthusiasts in Chilliwack and the Upper Fraser Valley area. We are enthusiastic amateur radio operators promoting all aspects of the Amateur Radio hobby. WHAT IS AMATEUR RADIO? Amateur Radio is a non-commercial radio communication service whose primary aims are public service, technical training and experimentation, and communication between private persons. Amateur Radio operators are commonly called hams. Hams generally communicate with each other recreationally but also provide communications for others at public events or in times of emergency or disaster. Hams are licensed to operate radio transmitters by Industry Canada, and are assigned call letters. The call letters VE7AFA are assigned to the Chilliwack Amateur Radio Club. Licensing involves taking a test demonstrating knowledge in radio theory and the rules and regulations that govern the use of the radio spectrum.
