KEEPING UP TO DATE Welcome to Chilliwack Amateur Radio Club's new page where we will endeavor to keep you informed of the latest information, events and ideas in our club. All the necessary equipment as been acquired for our Antenna Tower System either through donation or purchase. We would like to thank all the people who have generously donated to this worthwhile cause. We can now be assured that our equipment will work properly and safely at all our club events.
The long talked about re locating of our 146. 960 Mhz repeater from our club radio room to it's new location at Jack Jackaman's place has been completed thanks to the efforts of Jack and Dale Jackaman ,John Pierce and other member volunteers. The antenna is is now positioned on the Jackaman's tower. All the issues with the duplexer have been solved thanks to the efforts and expertise of Harold Thiessen our Equipment and Maintenance technician with assistance from Eugene Lutes and Glen Culpepper the repeater is now operating with a -600 offset and a 110.9 tone. In addition to our VHF antenna we now have a UHF antenna at the same location at a height of approximately 40' and is linked to the VHF side. Update on our new Portable Emergency Radio Systems Our emergency radio project is now completed.
Thanks to the government grant and VE7BXN's dedication and hard
work our four portable radios and four suitcase radios are ready
for use as the need arises. It is planned to have the portable radios deployed early in 2008 to evacuation centers and the suitcase radios ready for portable use as required. Both suitcase and portable systems have automatic switching systems to battery power if the main power is shut down or unavailable. A charger is provided to keep batteries charged when power is available. The suitcase radio's have a hand held VHF/UHF radio with antenna systems.
