Report your position to
other Ham stations. All you need is a GPS, TNC (modem) and a
VHF. If you do a little research you will find it is quite
easy to get on the air. You can put a aprs system in your
vehicle, back pack, airplane, atv or what ever you dream
up. There are lots of applications, coordinating search
efforts, check and see where your wife has been shopping or
the most practical, catch a unsuspecting car thief ! |
| Just
remember, you can use a variety of other TNC's, some larger
and not suitable for mobile use. You can use just about any
GPS that has Data out put. |
WinAPRS
/ UI-view You will
need a program such as this if you want to have your own
station at home. Not only will you be able to track others,
but your station will act as a APRS digipeater/relay
station to help with additional coverage. You could also
check up on someone's position by means of the internet on
such sites as FINDU.COM
Garmin GPS This is an excellent GPS for the price.
It will plug directly into the Tiny Track TNC.
Tiny Trak Best
price TNC tracker. I use this and it works great!
you also might want to consider the
pocket tracker.
